Santolina
A compact, silver-gray shrub with fine, aromatic foliage and yellow button-like flowers. Drought-tolerant and great for sunny, dry areas.

We typically grow Santolina in topiary form in 4″ and 5″ clay pots

Mature Size:

Indoors: 1–2 feet tall × 2–3 feet wide

Moderate grower

Optimum Temperature:

60-80 degrees Fahrenheit 

Characteristics:

An aromatic, evergreen shrub with silvery-gray, finely textured foliage and small yellow button-like flowers in summer

Light:

Indoor: Requires full light (at least 6 hours daily) for best color and compact growth

Water:

Indoor: Prefers consistently moist, well-draining soil, allowing the top inch to dry slightly between waterings

Outdoor: Keep soil evening moist 

Fertalizer:

Low feeder — use a light application of balanced fertilizer once in spring

Additional Notes:

In northern climates, bring plants indoors to overwinter. Prune the plant after blooming. If you wish for it to grow into a small tree/topiary, simply remove the spent blooms and clean out any dead or diseased wood. For a hedge, sheer the plant to the size desired. Bonsai and topiary forms take more training, which should be started in infancy
