Goldfish Plant
A compact, trailing plant with glossy, waxy leaves and bright orange, tubular flowers that resemble little goldfish. Popular for its quirky blooms and year-round decorative appeal

We typically grow goldfish plants in natural form in 4″ and 6″ pots as well as plants in 6″ plastic hanging baskets

Mature Size:

Indoors: 1–3 ft tall × 1–2 ft wide

 

Growth Rate:

Moderate grower

Optimum Temperature:

65-75 degrees Fahrenheit 

Characteristics:

Trailing/bushy plant with thick, waxy leaves. Produces bright orange, tubular “goldfish-like” flowers

Light:

Indoor:  Bright, indirect light is best for flowering. Direct sun can scorch; low light reduces blooms

Water:

Indoor: Water when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry. Avoid allowing the soil to fully dry out

Outdoor: Keep soil evening moist 

Fertalizer:

Feed every 2–4 weeks during growing/flowering season with a balanced fertilizer

Common Pests/Issues:

Pests: Mealybugs, aphids, spider mites

 
Diseases: Root rot, botrytis (gray mold) if overwatered or humid with poor airflowSooty mold (secondary to pests), root rot if overwatered

Additional Notes:

In northern climates, bring plants indoors to overwinter. Prune any dead or dying leaves and tissue from the plant before brining indoors. Observe over the next couple of weeks and treat with neem oil if pests are found to be present. Ensure plant gets enough light and is away from direct air flow/heat
