Oyster Plant/Boat Lily/Rhoeo
Mature Size:
Indoors: 12–18 in tall × 12–24 in wide
Growth Rate:
Moderate grower
Optimum Temperature:
60-85 degrees Fahrenheit
Characteristics:
Rosette-forming plant with green leaves on top and purple undersides. Grows offsets (pups) and forms dense clumps
Light:
Indoor: Bright, indirect to moderate light. Can tolerate some direct morning or late-day sun; too little light dulls leaf color
Water:
Indoor: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. When its time to water, water thoroughly. Do not water too frequently as this plant doesn’t tolerate soggy or overly damp soil for longer periods of time.
Outdoor: Keep soil evening moist
Fertalizer:
Feed monthly during spring–summer with a balanced fertilizer
Common Pests/Issues:
Pests: Scale, mealybugs, spider mites
Diseases: Leaf spot, root rot if overwatered
Additional Notes:
In northern climates, bring plants indoors to overwinter. Prune any dead or dying leaves and tissue from the plant before brining indoors. Observe over the next couple of weeks and treat with neem oil if pests are found to be present. Ensure plant gets enough light and is away from direct air flow/heat.
