Hemizygia
A shrubby, aromatic foliage plant with soft, textured leaves often tinged in gray-green or purple. Vigorous, bushy, and excellent for adding fullness and fragrance to indoor or mixed displays.

We typically grow hemizygia plants in natural from in 5″ clay pots and single ball topiary in 4″ clay pots

Indoors: 2–4 ft tall × 2–3 ft

 

Growth Rate:

Fast grower

Optimum Temperature:

60-75 degrees Fahrenheit 

Characteristics:

Shrubby, bushy habit with fragrant foliage. Often grown for ornamental leaves and soft texture

Light:

Indoor: Bright, indirect to filtered light. Too much direct sun indoors may bleach leaves

Water:

Indoor: Water when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry. Avoid allowing the soil to fully dry out

Outdoor: Keep soil evening moist

Fertalizer:

Feed every 2–3 weeks during active growth with a balanced fertilizer

Common Pests/Issues:

Pests: Whiteflies, aphids, spider mites

 
Diseases: Powdery mildew in humid/poor airflow, root rot in soggy soil

Additional Notes:

In northern climates, bring plants indoors to overwinter. Prune the plant after blooming. If you wish for it to grow into a small tree, simply remove the spent blooms and clean out any dead or diseased wood. For a hedge, sheer the plant to the size desired. Bonsai and topiary forms take more training, which should be started in infancy.
